Laura Liebenberg

Laura Liebenberg started her professional life as a newspaper and radio journalist.
After emigrating from South Africa to The Netherlands, she found that language barriers limited her opportunities to practice her profession.
With loads of time on her hands, she indulged in her love of drawing, knitting, sewing and embroidery.
What started off as a hobby, became a career in 2004 when she established her company: Trapsuutjies Fabric Paint.
She keeps the ties with her country of birth strong by importing fabric paint and other related products into Belgium, thus also doing her bit to support the economy and people of her beloved South Africa. She also designs a unique range of stamps which are manufactured in South Africa.

Laura strives to keep the business commitments of this enterprise in balance with her own creative work. She loves colour and that is almost always the starting point of her work. Recently she has started combining the dyeing and painting of fabric with sewing in her own unique way. This enables her to create her own world, one which often carries her back to her roots.
Her work can be seen in:
de Oude Pastorij
